Announcing the first Sixpence Games writing and art contest!
over 9 years ago – Fri, Jun 17, 2016 at 11:16:34 AM

Have you dreamed of being a professional game designer? Have you always wanted to be a published RPG writer? Wanted to see your art in a book in stores? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then Sixpence Games wants you!

In preparation for our first RPG, I’ve decided to do a contest. Two contests, really: one for art, and one for writing. I will select up to four winners in each category. Winners will get $50 and their written piece or artwork will be used in Murder Most Foul, the infinitely replayable murder mystery dinner party game! (and you’ll get free copies of the game, of course) .

To enter the art contest, simply send a link to your portfolio to [email protected], with “Art Contest” in the subject line. If you are selected as a winner, you will be paired with one of the winning pieces of writing and tasked to illustrate it.

To enter the writing contest is a bit more involved. You will need to submit a complete Murder Most Foul scenario. For more details on how the contests work, an outline of how a MMF scenario should look, an example scenario, and the rough draft of the rules, click here.

Art is finished; final edits underway; going to the manufacturer!
over 9 years ago – Tue, Jun 07, 2016 at 12:21:51 AM

The art is complete, nearly all of the components have finished being edited, and the remaining edits (thanks to Peter C. Hayward of Blue Beard Entertainment for editing) are now being finalized, and everything will be going to the manufacturer in the next few days!

Thank you all again for your patience and support. I apologize for going two months without an update; it won't happen again, even if all I have to report is "manufacturing is going smoothly".

Progress on designing Legitimate Businessmen, Murder Most Foul, and Venture Capital is also progressing nicely. Are you interested in hearing more about any of those?

By the way, if you're looking for a family oriented game from a great designer, and want to show support for all the editing help he's given, check out Peter Hayward's Scuttle: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/peterchayward/scuttle-the-pirate-card-game-for-all-ages

I want your feedback on the design of the back of the box
almost 10 years ago – Thu, Apr 07, 2016 at 12:35:37 AM

What do you think? Does this grab you? Is there something else you want to see more of? Obviously the lorem ipsum will be replaced with actual text, but as regards the layout and images, what do you think?

Revised box art
almost 10 years ago – Tue, Mar 15, 2016 at 11:22:03 PM

Josh continues to slave away at the art, and has a lot to show for it. The character cards and scenario sheets are undergoing revision and editing before their appearance and layout is finalized; I'll share those with you when they're finished. In the meantime, here's something that is finalized: the front box art!

More art!
about 10 years ago – Sun, Feb 07, 2016 at 06:07:27 PM

Josh has been slaving away at the monster art for aeons, and now that he's returned from the dreamlands with his fabulous visions, I can share them with you.
