Votes so far, and better know a scenario: the Esoteric Order of Dagon

90 of you have voted so far, which is great! If you haven't voted yet, you have two more days to do so. Go here to see the nominees and go here to vote.
So far we have 18 votes for the Reverse Scenario, 22 for the alternate Great Race of Yith, 27 for Dreamtime, and 31 for Is it secret? Is it safe? so it's still a very close race! In addition, two of y'all submitted blank forms, so those aren't going to get counted.
Now let's take a look at one of the other scenarios. The Esoteric Order of Dagon is one of my favorites, at least in part because of how much fun it is to say Esoteric Order of Dagon (seriously, give it a try. Rolls your tongue around delightfully).
This scenario is a bit different from the others in that all the three Cultists are fairly similar to each other, and that it does not have a scenario specific Artifact. Instead, in this scenario the Academics need to assemble two Elder Signs. Fortunately, they have more places to search for ES pieces than in the other scenarios, though several of these are outside, which is a treacherous place to venture, for several reasons. First, because Outdoor Events are much more likely to deal Wounds than Indoor Events are, and second because there's a very good chance some Deep Ones will show up out of the Pond!
There are three Cultists: the Innsmouth Look, the Swarm of Deep Ones, and the High Priest of Dagon. If the Cultist has the Innsmouth Look, then they become a deadly variant on a Deep One, as do any Academics they kill, growing their powers as they pick off their opponents. Plus, if they are killed, there's a good chance they'll automatically transform their killer! The High Priest of Dagon, on the other hand, can cast a spell that has a chance to immediately transform its target into a Deep One, though the Priest doesn't gain any special physical powers themself. Finally, in the Swarm of Deep Ones, a huge number of Deep Ones come out of the Pond and start dragging Academics into it, automatically killing any they successfully pull into the Pond.
I'm sure you're going to love this scenario as much as I do (that Swarm of Deep Ones is terrifying!) and I'm sure we're all going to love the scenario we cook up together, whichever one it is. I'm also sure you'll like it even more if we make your favorite of them, so go get voting if you haven't yet!

Better know a scenario: the Cult of Cthulhu

This is the eponymous scenario for the game, so I put in a lot of effort to make sure it's both a really great, fun, well balanced scenario, and that it's really unique and shows off what the game is about.
In the Cult of Cthulhu scenario, the Academics are trying to find the Cthulhu Idol that the cult is trying to steal, and smash it. The Cultist is trying to kill the Academics, and having the Idol will greatly enhance their ability to do that, so they're desperate to get their hands on it.
The Academics need to find the Idol, reassemble the Elder Sign, get them in the same room, and then destroy the Idol. The Cultist needs to stop that from happening, and kill the Academics while they're at it.
One thing that I really like about this design is the Tentacle Tokens. They started out as just a generic monster that can be in any scenario, but then during playtesting they ended up evolving into pretty separate beasts in each of the scenarios. In the Fungi from Yuggoth they're weak but fast, while in the Esoteric Order of Dagon they're stronger but slower. In the Coming of Nyarlathotep they're not monsters at all, but immobile rifts in space, and in the Cult of Cthulhu they're not even on the map, they're counters used to build up the power of the monster summoned when the Cultist reveals themself.
As in all the scenarios, there are three possible role cards for the Cultist in the Cult of Cthulhu. In one, the Cultist is joined by a horde of dagger wielding fellow cultists, who swarm the university and try to sacrifice the Academics to their Dread Lord Cthulhu. In the second, a dreaded Star Spawn of Cthulhu arrives, massively powerful and able to move in non-Euclidean ways. And in my absolute favorite, a single, immobile portal opens, and out of it reaches a vast, indestructible, enormous tentacle, that is one tile long for each Tentacle Token summoned in the game. You end up with a 40 foot tentacle throwing Academics around while they desperately scramble to rebuild the Elder Sign. It's fantastic fun. I played a game with it just a few nights ago at Good Games here in Melbourne, and it was great, and I can't wait to get it to the rest of you.
I'll be sending out more descriptions of the scenarios like this in the coming weeks, so stay tuned!
